Wrap Up: September 2016

A busy September and good reads.

September was a little crazy. I flew to Nevada to go house hunting, put in an offer, got the offer accepted, packed up our home in Denver, made a big Uhaul move into storage in Nevada, flew back home to prep the Denver house to go on the market, and now I’m back in Nevada playing catch up!! Phew! What a month it has been. We’re thrilled to be so close to closing on our new home soon and it’s very bittersweet to see our home in Denver go on the market. We know it will be just as good to the new family as it was to us and can’t wait to begin our transition into life in Nevada.

Other than that crazy mess called life, I’ve been able to read a little bit here and there. I managed to read 2 comics/graphic novels, 1 poetry collection, and 3 books. I enjoyed everything I read and as you know loved some more than others. If I had to choose I’d say my favorite thing I read that month was Alex + Ada. It was just so surprising and beautiful. So happy to have volume 2 arriving soon and to continue on with it. You can watch my September wrap up below and don’t forget to subscribe because FULL reviews of each are headed your way soon 🙂

Wrap Up: August 2016

August was full of great reads!

August was insane! We traveled to Rio to watch my brother compete in the Olympics, we came home and bought a house. Now we’re in the process of boxing up our house in Denver and getting ready for the big move to Nevada. I really thought I would have read more this past month, but I can see why I didn’t… I did manage to read 3 books and 2 comics. What I did read was fantastic! I highly recommend them all and here you’ll get a glimpse into each read, but for full reviews you can click below! This past weekend we boxed up my entire office and it makes me sad to see the empty bookshelf, but I did pull a few out. Stay tuned for my September TBR!

Wrap Up: July 2016

My reads during the month of July… boy did it fly!

I swear I blinked and July was over! I can’t believe it’s officially August… anyone else feeling like this?! July was busy, but I still managed to read 5 books and 4 comics. The books I read were fantastic as always (huge thank you to BookSparks and Atria Books), but my favorite read would have to be Swear on This Life by Renee Carlino. Oh goodness it was AMAZING and I devoured it in two days. The reads this last month were all a little heavier and emotional so just a little heads up for those who want to read these! I highly recommend them all though and would love to hear what you think so if you do pick one up. Let me know!

Comic Review: Rat Queens, Sweet Tooth, & More

Another Saturday morning comic round up of reviews!

Happy Saturday! I’ve decided Saturday mornings are perfect for sleeping in, being lazy, and staying in bed reading some comics. Wouldn’t you agree? You know kind of like you did as a kid except with cartoons! My husband and I have started making this a little morning tradition the last few weeks and we’re absolutely loving it! Hope you’ll decide to join us for comic mornings and let us know what comics you’re reading!!

In my last comic review, I spoke about Sweet Tooth Volumes 1-3. It was a great start to this series (and find out how I came across it) and I couldn’t wait to continue. Today, I get to share the last 3 volumes in the series. It’s come to an end now and I’m a little sad about it… I highly recommend it! Other than that series I started two others. One that I was happy with and one that received a lot of hype, but I just didn’t love it as much. I’m looking forward to continuing with both though just so I can see if things will pick up and change my mind.

Comic Review: Sweet Tooth, Lumberjanes & More

A round up of 5 comics and their reviews!

One afternoon, my husband and I decided to drive up to Fort Collins and roam around. It was then we came across a cute little comic shop named Halley’s Comics. I kindly asked the man behind the counter for some guidance. We wanted something that we could read together and I told him that we really loved The Walking Dead. That was when he recommended Sweet Tooth. We bought the first volume just to give it a go and we have really enjoyed the series so far. It’s exactly what we were looking for. So thankful it was recommended and now we highly recommend it too!!

Comic Review: Nimona, Lumberjanes & More

My first collection of Comic Books and Reviews!

These 5 were the FIRST comic books I’ve ever owned or read. I was always under the impression that they were nerdy and only offered something for those who liked superheros. Don’t get me wrong…I love my Marvel movies, but I just don’t see myself getting into the marvel comics. Who knows though, I didn’t think I’d like comics and here I am. I’ve since learned that comics offer so much more.

My comic love all started with Lady Killer. I spotted it on the shelf while I was patiently waiting for my husband. He was browsing for his first comic and while he walked out empty handed, a comic caught my attention by the spine. When I pulled it out and saw the cover, I was in love and immediately bought it. From there, I was addicted. I searched Instagram for more and ended up picking these other titles. I have since then been devouring them. I love how short and sweet they are and yet they can be entertaining or really pack a punch. It’s impressive how poetry and comics can do that. The artwork is fantastic too! I really appreciate all the talent that goes into each one of these.

Soppy has become a favorite and I can’t wait to gift these to friends and clients. And Lady Killer… hands down a favorite AND I just found out not too long ago that they are continuing the series! Woo hoo!! It was supposed to make it’s way out this Spring. I haven’t heard anything as of yet. If you hear something, let me know!

Favorites: Halfway through 2016

A collection of my favorite reads so far this year.

June has come and gone and so far I’ve read 39 books. They have all been great too which is why I wanted to share my favorite reads so far this year. I’m also really interested in looking back at the end of the year and seeing which of these makes the final cut for the end of the year favorites. I’m sure the list will change, but for now, I’m extremely happy with the lineup. I hope that you’ll find at least one you haven’t read yet and give it a go!!

Today, I’m dressed head to toe Americana and ready to celebrate! Sadly, Zach has to work so I’ll just be chilling at home. There will be sunshine, bbq foods, and of course a good book! Later, I’ll most likely stay home with our pup and watch the fireworks from upstairs. I love this time of year. I hope you all have a fun and safe holiday!

Happy Fourth of July!
