Book Haul: August 2016

A book haul FULL of amazing reads just begging to be read!

Some of you may know, my husband and I are making a big life change… we’re boxing up our home in Denver and heading to Reno to be closer to our families. So over the past week I’ve had the task of boxing up some things. The first to go were my books. My husband brought a box up into my office and said hey start packing. I was like yeah okay it should be easy right well it set off an anxiety attack… I couldn’t stand the thought of an empty bookshelf for the month. Turns out though, the TBR stack sitting on the floor… it fills up my almost empty shelf ha! And I thought I’d only need a few boxes. I’m already at two and I have a good feeling I’m going to need a LOT more!

Anyways, over the month of August I’ve been able to add more great reads to the TBR shelf! I’m so excited for these reads. Have you read any of them?

Order your copies of the August reads from Amazon:

Favorites: Halfway through 2016

A collection of my favorite reads so far this year.

June has come and gone and so far I’ve read 39 books. They have all been great too which is why I wanted to share my favorite reads so far this year. I’m also really interested in looking back at the end of the year and seeing which of these makes the final cut for the end of the year favorites. I’m sure the list will change, but for now, I’m extremely happy with the lineup. I hope that you’ll find at least one you haven’t read yet and give it a go!!

Today, I’m dressed head to toe Americana and ready to celebrate! Sadly, Zach has to work so I’ll just be chilling at home. There will be sunshine, bbq foods, and of course a good book! Later, I’ll most likely stay home with our pup and watch the fireworks from upstairs. I love this time of year. I hope you all have a fun and safe holiday!

Happy Fourth of July!

Book Review: A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro

In this retelling, Holmes and Watson are suspected of murder…

Read | 4/5 stars | Buy your copy of A Study in Charlotte

Overview:
A Study in Charlotte is a retelling of the Sherlock Holmes novels except in this one, Sherlock is a girl! Charlotte and Jamie knew of each other, but it wasn’t until they wound up at the same school that they got to meet face to face. While neither of them was overly fond of the other, a friendship was formed when they were forced to work together to solve the murder and clear their names.

What I loved:
A great teenage retelling from Watson’s perspective, kept me guessing, entertaining and fun! Looking forward to continuing on with this series.

What I didn’t: Wished there was more distance between them and the traits of their grandfathers.

If you liked Sherlock Holmes (the books, movies, or tv show): pick up this series!

Book Review: Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson

“And it was a kiss that felt like it could stop time.”

A great Summer read | 4/5 stars | Buy your copy of Since You’ve Been Gone

Overview: Emily returns home from a vacation to find her best friend, Sloane, has disappeared. When a letter arrives from Sloane, Emily immediately opens it. Inside is a list of 13 things she must do over Summer. Emily sets out to complete the list in hopes that it will lead her to more clues or the whereabouts of her best friend.

What I loved: Watching Emily’s character develop, the real and relatable relationships between the characters, a love interest that started with a solid friendship, the playlists!

What I didn’t: Not getting closure with Collins and Dawn, slightly annoyed with Sloane.

If you liked Paper Towns then: this one is for you! All the vibes of Paper Towns 😉
