Favorites: Halfway through 2016

A collection of my favorite reads so far this year.

Advertisements

June has come and gone and so far I’ve read 39 books. They have all been great too which is why I wanted to share my favorite reads so far this year. I’m also really interested in looking back at the end of the year and seeing which of these makes the final cut for the end of the year favorites. I’m sure the list will change, but for now, I’m extremely happy with the lineup. I hope that you’ll find at least one you haven’t read yet and give it a go!!

Today, I’m dressed head to toe Americana and ready to celebrate! Sadly, Zach has to work so I’ll just be chilling at home. There will be sunshine, bbq foods, and of course a good book! Later, I’ll most likely stay home with our pup and watch the fireworks from upstairs. I love this time of year. I hope you all have a fun and safe holiday!

Happy Fourth of July!

My favorite read this month would be…

March was a crazy month and while I didn’t get to every book I had hoped, I’m happy with what I was able to read. My favorite read during March would have to be Me Before You. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it and the movie was pretty great too!

Book Review: Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes

I can’t get enough of Joe Goldberg!

READ NOW | 5/5 stars | Buy your copy of Hidden Bodies

Overview:
We pick up right were You left off. Joe’s left alone (again) and he decides to follow Amy to Hollywood to convince her to be with him. However, while searching for Amy, Joe finds another woman who catches his eye, Love. She even steals his heart. True love is all he’s ever wanted and with Love, that’s what he gets. Will his life with Love continue on this happy path or will Joe’s past finally catch up to him?

What I loved:
Characters had more depth and development, addicted to such an unfavorable type of character, and ended up being left quite surprised!

What I didn’t: Frustrating at times as Joe chases two women… commit already!

If you liked You (first book in this duology), He Will Be My Ruin, anything by Gillian Flynn, or the TV show Dexter then: read this because I couldn’t get enough of Joe!

TBR: March 2016

Books I wanted to read in March. I was a little ambitious!

I had a slightly ambitious TBR for March and sadly I didn’t get to them all… but that’s life I suppose. I can’t wait to share what I actually did read (full reviews coming soon!) I started The Swans of Fifth Avenue that month and when I couldn’t get into it, I set it aside and moved on to another. I have finally finished it, but it did take me two months. Have you ever had a book that you struggled with?

Book Review: You by Caroline Kepnes

“You’re going to be so sorry when you realize what you made me do… the good news is that I have no regrets.”

Be ready to be creeped out | 4/5 stars | Buy your copy of You

Overview:
Joe spots Beck as she walks into the bookstore and that’s all it took for him to fall in love with her, but happens when she puts him in the friend zone?

What I loved:
An eerie and realistic plot that hooks you instantly and leaves you wanting more, Joe’s POV and obsessive thoughts, all the pop culture references.

What I didn’t:
It wasn’t as much of a thriller as I expected. Beware of the explicit language.

If you liked Gone Girl, The Girl on The Train, Sharp Objects, or, He Will Be My Ruin: this one is for YOU! And don’t forget to pick up the sequel, Hidden Bodies!
