Overview: Lina and her family are being forcefully evacuated from their home in Lithuania during WWII. As they’re being taken away, Lina’s father gets separated from them and they’re all thrown onto a train. We follow their journey on the train through harsh conditions and eventually they arrive at a prison camp. Lina is determined to survive so she can find her father. A beautiful and sad story about love, hope, struggle, and determination.

What I loved:
How much it made me think.

What I didn’t: The pace was a little slow, I wish I had felt more for some of the other characters.

SALT TO THE SEA

Haunting, must read! | 5/5 stars | Buy your copy of Salt to the Sea

Overview: J
oana, Florian, Emilia, and Alfred are our main characters. Each of them from different countries with no connections to each other. What they do have in common is that they are all trying to survive the madness surrounding them. Suddenly all of their paths become intertwined as they make their way towards a ship that is supposed to take them away from the war and onto freedom.

What I loved: The opening lines of each character, all the emotions, and Emilia.

What I didn’t: The ending popped up on me and felt a little rushed. Alfred… UGGGGHHH!
